UK Legal Requirements
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require all practicable steps to prevent falls from height. The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 mandate guardrails on open edges of floors and elevated platforms. Key dimensions: minimum 1,100mm top rail height; intermediate rail at approximately 500–600mm; 150mm toe board where objects could fall. These requirements apply to both permanent and temporary installations.
